Pair Of Fatal Shootings Investigated In Camden: Prosecutor

Detectives are investigating separate shootings that killed two men in Camden, authorities said.

On Friday, May 17, at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers from the Camden County Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter activation for gunfire on the 800 block of Princeton Avenue in Camden. 

Police found a male victim, identified as 24-year-old Marcus Corbitt of Camden, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. The victim was transported by a patrol vehicle to Cooper University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 1:15 p.m.

Later that day, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Camden County Sheriff’s Office reported that a male victim, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, was dropped off at Cooper University Hospital by a private vehicle. 

The victim, identified as 18-year-old Na’Quan McCray of Camden, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at about 10:10 p.m., the prosecutor said.

Detectives later determined that the shooting occurred at the Point Street Park located at Point Street and York Street in Camden.

No suspects had been arrested. Both investigations are active and ongoing.
